Super Friends

Super Friends was one of two half-hour segments on the hour-long Challenge of the Super Friends, which aired on ABC during the 1978 television season. In format, it was a holdover from the main segment of the previous series, The All-New Super Friends Hour.

In the segment, the familiar faces of Superman, Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman and Aquaman teamed up as the Justice League of America, operating out of a stylish headquarters, better known as the Hall of Justice. The team battled evil-doers to keep the Earth safe, with additional help from teenage twins Zan and Jayna from the planet Exxor. Better known as The Wonder Twins, the pointy-eared aliens were themselves accompanied by the show’s comic relief, a space-monkey named Gleek.

Challenge of the Super Friends ran for one season of sixteen episodes. As one of two segments on the show, the Super Friends segment had no opening sequence of its own. Due to this, the opening sequence from The All-New Super Friends Hour was later used for these stories when they were shown separately in syndication.
