Hawkman was one of several DC Comics based superhero segments that formed part of the 60-minute series, The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure. Filmation produced a total of three, 7-minute stories featuring Hawkman.
Carter Hall, scientific genius from a far-off world, worked on Earth as an unassuming space lab technician on the outskirts of Midway City. When trouble reared it ugly head, he flew into action as the winged wonder Hawkman with the assistance of his faithful fighting mascot Skreal who was (what else) a hawk. Hawkman equipped himself with a power gauntlet in the shape of a claw he used to fire various types of rays and chemicals when taking on earthly as well as interplanetary foes. When duty took him away from Earth he used his powerful wings to fly to his orbiting spaceship, from which he rocketed through the cosmos in record time.
In addition to his own segment, Hawkman participated with other superheroes in the show’s team-based segment, Justice League of America. Although his initial foray into the animated landscape was short lived, Hawkman later joined Hanna-Barbera’s 1973 version of the JLA as a member of the Super Friends.
